Entry Requirements

To register for this qualification, learners must be aged 18 and over.

Learners will need to show that they hold a current and valid First Aid or Emergency First Aid certificate that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

It is an SIA requirement that training centres must confirm that each learner is sufficiently qualified in First Aid or Emergency First Aid.

Rubicon Training offer the required First Aid qualification as a bolt on to the Door Supervisor course, please contact us if you have any questions surrounding this.

Language Prerequisite

Security operatives are likely in the course of their work to be required to make calls to the emergency services, or for example communicate to resolve conflict. It is essential that security operatives can communicate effectively. It is therefore the responsibility of Rubicon Training to ensure that each learner is sufficiently competent in the use of the English and/or Welsh language.

Learners will be required to complete a literacy assessment prior to their position on this course being fully secured.

Can I still do this course if I have a criminal record?

There are currently no requirements for training providers to check criminal records.

Once learners have completed this qualification, they can then apply to the Security Industry Authority (SIA) for their licence. The SIA will then conduct a criminal record check.

We strongly advise that learners carry out their own research with the SIA prior to purchasing their training to ensure that they are not wasting both their time and money.

You can use the Criminal Record Indicator via the SIA website here.

ID Requirements

It is the responsibility of Rubicon Training to have systems in place to ensure that the person taking an assessment is indeed the person they are claiming to be.

Rubicon Training are therefore required to ensure that each learner’s identification is checked before they undertake any assessment.

All centres are therefore required to ensure that each learner’s photograph and formal identification documents are checked and recorded before they are allowed to sit the examination/assessment.

Learners will be required to provide Rubicon Training with a passport photograph along with documentation that will suffice the Security Industry Authority when applying for their licence.

A list of the required ID can be found here.

You may not be required to submit a form of photographic ID for your SIA licence application, however, it is requirement for you to have one prior to sitting any assessment with Rubicon Training.

So therefore you must have at least one form of photographic ID that includes your signature.

Any learner who does not produce the required documents to satisfy the ID requirements cannot take any assessments and therefore will not be able to complete the qualification.
